Mary Poletti, age 67, passed away peacefully on March 4th following a devastating stroke. Her husband and children were by her side. The hospital halls were lined with family, friends, and staff to honor her as she was taken to the O.R. to donate her organs. Mary dedicated her life to the care of her family and others, especially her brother Michael and sisters Patricia and Elizabeth while they were alive.
Born Mary Nofi on September 8, 1956, in Rockville Centre, she is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Mario, and children John (Lauren) Marra of Leesburg, Virginia, Danielle (Matthew) Cioffie of Manorville, Patrick, of Commack, and three beautiful granddaughters, Aviana, Serena, and Cassia Marra. Daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Nofi, she also leaves behind siblings Vincent, John, Thomas, Rita, Peter, Teresa, Regina and her stepsiblings Richard, Mary and Patricia.
Mary was a retired registered nurse who could always be found on the dance floor with her husband. She was an avid crocheter who loved to cook and bake. When she came to visit, you could always expect that she would come with armloads of food which probably included rainbow cookies, a cheesecake, cannolis, a pasta dish, antipasto salad or her meat pie. If you were celebrating a special occasion, you most likely received a crocheted blanket from her. She lived her life always giving to others and never asking for anything in return.
To honor Mary, please consider organ donation. Family, friends, and others are invited to Flinch and Bruns Funeral home to honor, reminisce and celebrate Mary’s life.
