Obituary

Alicja Platek was born March 17th, 1932 in Warsaw, Poland.  She worked as a seamstress as a young woman.  She was married to Stanislaus Platek and the mother of 3 children; Andy Stafinski, Anna Tarricone, and Eva Berardi.  In 1971, Alicja and her family immigrated to the United States to reunite with her brother Walter Roszkowski.  She lived in Ozone Park, Queens for many years and moved to Lynbrook in 2002.  She enjoyed cooking Polish food, pierogies, kopytka and golumpki were some of the family’s favorites.  She loved her sweets and desserts, every year she would bake trays of Christmas butter cookies with her grandchildren and would never turn down a glazed Dunkin’ Donut to have with her coffee.  She loved watching the Yankees, soap operas and Spanish novellas.  She always looked forward to putting on her Sunday best for church each week and prayed daily.  She is survived by her 6 grandchildren; Peter, Mark, Kristin, Jessica, Jacklin, and Michael; and 6 great-grandchildren; Tyler, Dylan, Sebastian, Kristofer, Nicholas, and Olivia.
