Angela Maraia Obituary

Angela Maraia, 89 years old, of North Lynbrook, joined her beloved husband, George, in Heaven on July 5, 2019. Devoted mother to Teresa, Peter, Angela Mannino, and John. Preceded in death by her son, Peter(survived by wife Pamela)

Cherished by five grandchildren- Christina, Michael, Donna, Gina, and Gabriela. Great grandson, Joseph Peter, knew her as Nonna. Her second great grandson was born July 4, 2019.

Angela and George shared 66 years of loving marriage. Their devotion to each other was inspirational to everyone who observed them. Angela and George enjoyed attending Mass, entertaining and dancing, often taking 1st place in local dance contests. They loved traveling. Weekends and holidays were spent with their extensive family, savoring multi-course Italian feasts. Angela's favorite food group was dessert! Their children bemused that often Mom and Dad would stay out later on weekend nights than their children did. They enjoyed socializing so much, they were often last to leave the party!

After Angela's stroke, George was always at her side as Care companion and official wheelchair schlepper.

Angela was born in Brooklyn to John and Angelina Sabino. She was the eldest of six siblings, including Jean, Carol, Fran, Lou, and Rose. The sisters swooned to Frank Sinatra and amused their family harmonizing to songs, like the popular 1950's "Harbour Lights". They taught us how to love and togetherness can be shared by music and laughter.

Angela's many nieces and nephews knew her as Aunt Lee. Her many friends called her Ann! Her favorite hobbies included watching movies, playing card games, Mahjong, or Rummikub. Angela took special pride in keeping her hair perfectly quaffed, and her make-up and nails pristine! Her friends always enjoyed her smile.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity or volunteering time at your preferred non-profit group!

Angela's final request was to tell her family and friends that she "loved them all very much..."

A visitation period celebrating her life is to be planned for July 21, 2019 with a Funeral Mass on July 22, 2019. Details to follow.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
