Henry Maloney Obituary

 

Maloney – Henry L., 72, on December 16, 2018. Loving son of Cecil Maloney and Beatrice (Sherwell) Maloney, both deceased. Loving brother of Beatrice (Joseph Gramegna, deceased), Cecil (Dolores), Dennis (Margaret), Daniel (Patricia), and Joseph (Susan). Loving uncle to eigteen nieces and nephews and great uncle to thirty. Loving cousin to a large extended family. Born in Flatbush, Henry attended St. Jerome’s School, Power Memorial H.S. and Erasmus Hall H.S. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended submarine school in New London. He was assigned to the fast attack nuclear boat USS Scorpion and his enlistment ended as the Scorpion went into drydock. He was a Petty Officer Torpedoman 3. On it’s next cruise the Scorpion disappeared with his crewmates aboard. Henry became an NYPD officer assigned to the busy 75 PCT in East New York. He then became a Federal Firefighter at Naval Air Station New York (Floyd Bennett Field) in Brooklyn. Family will receive friends Thursday 12/20/2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home, Inc. 34 Hempstead Ave (corner Peninsula Blvd) Lynbrook. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 12/21/2018 at 9:45 AM at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 25 Fowler Ave (corner Peninsula Blvd & Merrick Rd) Lynbrook. Interment to follow with Military Honors at Calverton National Cemetery.
