Joan M. Haggerty

Joan M. Haggerty, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, NY. She was born February 29, 1936 (a leap year baby), in Queens NY to James M. and Helen (Monahan) Haggerty. Beloved sister of James R. (wife Margaret), Vincent, Dennis (wife Barbara), Michael (wife Lynda) and Eileen (husband Ronald). Aunt of 11 nieces and nephews, great aunt to 21. Honorary aunt to many including the Hill and Mulcahy families. Joan was a friend to all. To her friends were family, friendships ran deep lasted decades.  She worked as a Payroll Manager for the city of New York Hospitals for almost 50 years. The heart of the Haggerty family, attending birthdays, graduations, sacraments and all manner of celebrations. She hosted many, many, many holidays at the house in Cambria Heights where she lived for 78 years until moving to Valley Stream in early 2015. She is survived by her siblings, Dennis, Michael, Eileen and her many nieces, nephews,  great nieces and great nephews. Family, friends and others whose lives Joan touched are invited to remember and celebrate this wonderful woman on Friday, October 5, 2018 with Catholic funeral mass and burial on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
