John "Zeke" Zuccaro, 93, of Hicksville, New York passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2019 of natural causes.
Funeral service will be held at Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home on Sunday, December 29th from 2-6 PM; located at 34 Hempstead Avenue (corner Peninsula Blvd) in Lynbrook, NY.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 30th at 11:15 AM at St. Frances de Chantal, 1309 Wantagh Avenue; Wantagh, NY.
Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Riverhead, NY with bestowing Military Honors.
John, 5th oldest of ten children of the late Joseph and Concetta Zuccaro, born in New York City on May 12, 1926. He grew up in Brooklyn during the heart of the Italian immigration movement. He served his Country Honorably during World War II and the Korean War as a United States Marine Staff Sergeant. John was awarded several commendations and medals for his bravery and commitment to the United States.
He married Marie (Koch) in 1948 and they raised eight children in the golden age of an evolving Brooklyn. John provided a very good life for his family with a long career as an auto salvage/body shop owner in the same nearby bustling community area. He enjoyed spending time with family, listening to radio, and watching the game shows.
To cherish his memory, John leaves his two daughters Carol Monahan (Michael) of Howard Beach, NY and Susan Delgrosso (Sal) of Concord, NC, his sister, Rose Ciasulli (Joseph) of Malverne, NY and his brother, Michael Zuccaro. Eight cherished grandchildren, Michael (Mary) Monahan, Rick (Tracy) DePauw, Lauren DePauw, Sal Delgrosso (Krystle), Matthew Delgrosso, Joseph (Emily) Delgrosso, John Zuccaro, Christopher Zuccaro and Anthony Zuccaro. Also survived by his six adored great grandchildren, Michael Monahan III, Jack Monahan and Jillian DePauw, Lena-Rayne Delgrosso, Clover and Logan Delgrosso and in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife Marie and six of his children, John, Jill DePauw, Michael, Patricia, Donna, Raymond, and granddaughter, Tina Marie.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude especially to caregiver Balthazar to whom he compassionately assisted him for the past year.
