Lisa Wurm, 91, "The Bicycle Lady of Lynbrook" on July 28, 2018. Lisa was born January 23, 1927 and raised in Oldenburg, Germany. She emigrated to New York City and took a job at Brewer-Cantelmo Bookbinders on East 27th Street where she met her beloved husband Charles (who was also her boss). After the birth of their first daughter in 1950 and their move to Ridgewood, Queens she became a homemaker. In 1957 they moved to their own home in Lynbrook with their daughters Lisa and Mary Ann.
Lisa enjoyed bicycling everywhere until her mid 80's and seemed to know everyone in Lynbrook. She greeted all with a wave and "you hoo". She loved her "job" handling the coffee setup at the Lynbrook Seniors and couldn't wait for the arrival of summer trips to Lido Beach each Wednesday. For years she breakfasted with friends at McDonalds and later White Castle. After Charles' death in 1996 she continued to reside in their Allen Street home until she and her bike moved to Noble House in Lynbrook in 2005.
Family include daughters Lisa (Donald) Scott of St. James, Mary Ann (Paul) Pinola of Oceanside, grandchildren Charles (Felicia) Scott, Joseph Pinola, Nicole Pinola, and great granddaughter Jocelyn Alice ("Cutie") Scott. Family will receive friends Thursday, August 2nd from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 3rd at 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Lynbrook. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale. Memorial contributions may be made to MJHS Hospice. Please see link below.

Thy father’s tending the sheep
Thy mother’s shaking the dreamland tree
Down fall lovely dreams for thee
