Vincent Blair Obituary

Vincent Robert Blair, 84, of Valley Stream, NY passed away peacefuly on July 5, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, Vin spent the last 45 years on Long Island with his beloved wife Arlene, raising their daughters, Maureen, Patricia, and Jennifer. Vin is pre-deceased by his father Joseph, his mother Alice, and his brother Joe. He is survived by his wife and daughters, his son-in-law Greg, his grandsons Will and John, his sisters Pat and Alice, numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren, and a multitude of dear friends.

Vin was the epitome of a standup guy, the kind of friend or family member who could be depended upon always, in any situation. A devout Catholic, Vin was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes in Malverne, where he served as an usher for over 40 years. His sense of duty and his work ethic could not have been stronger. He worked full-time up until his passing, and truly loved his work family at Grace Insurance. Vin was friendly and a ready conversationalist, with a lively sense of humor that could border on corny. He was telling dad jokes decades before they were even a thing. A baseball player in his youth, he was a sassionate fan of his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers, and one of the Mets faithful from the inception of the franchise. He also loved the Jets and Islanders, and was looking forward to their return home. Vin taught his daughters the importance of loyalty, even when your team breaks your heart (again and again....). He found the joy in everyday life and delighted in small pleasures, like snuggling with his dogs Charlie or Brandy (or Brownie or Scrappy), counting down the days to an upcoming vacation on the Cape, enjoying time in the pool he worked so hard on, "making good time" when traveling by car, or knowing that he had a leftover piece of key lime pie left in the fridge. But most of all he loved his family. His passing will leave an unimaginable void, but also the knowledge of a well-lived and lifetime of happy memories.

A graduate of LaSalle Academy, Vin would be deeply appreciative for any contributions you would like to make in his name to the alma mater he felt such a deep connection to: https://lasalleacademy.org/product/donate-now/

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
