AT THE REQUEST OF THE RYDER FAMILY - MASKS REQUIRED OF ALL VISITORS
On May 27th 2022 the world lost one of its last living "saints." At the age of 95, Anna Ryder passed away surrounded by her loving family.
After surviving World War II in Italy, she met Howard Ryder, a handsome MP. It was love at first sight and he told the other G.I.'s "this is the girl I'm going to marry." She was an incredible woman, able to cross the world alone and despite adversity created a wonderful family: Yolanda, Audrey, Howie, and Yvonne. Throughout her life she was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of 16.
While being a loving mother, Anna worked many different jobs. She started out at Gimbels, then became a cafeteria worker at Lynbrook South Junior High. Starting in 1972, Anna became office manager for Howard's new business, All Ways Exterminating, and continued on until her mid-80s.
The family's fondest memories are Sunday dinners of her famous sauce and meatballs, and the holiday tradition of baking Christmas cookies with the grandchildren. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to listen and empathize with others. She was a true example of being the light of Christ to the world. To quote a gift she received: "She was the mother everyone wished they had."
