Barbara Walsh 9/9/36-2/13/21
Barbara Walsh (née Hedderman), 84, passed away peacefully in her home on February 13th, 2021.
Born on September 9th, 1936 in New York to Eugene and Cecilia Hedderman, who preceded her in death.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Thomas P. Walsh Jr. (FDNY) and her son, Michael F. Walsh. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Joyce Walsh and her granddaughter, Falon Walsh.
Barbara was a long time resident of Woodside, NY until 2017 when she moved to Malverne, Long Island to live with her daughter. She had a passion for reading since she was a little girl, it was her greatest joy. She loved her trips to Barnes & Noble, with detective novels and murder mysteries topping her list. Barbara also loved a good BBC mystery or crime drama, Dateline, and Family Feud. Even at 84, she still loved to decorate the house and occasionally cook meals for her and Joyce.
Barbara had a very generous heart and a good soul, her kindness never wavered whether you were a friend or a stranger. She would send out her monthly charitable intentions to those in need and always gifted her books after reading them, most recently to a local assisted living. She got great joy out of knowing how much the residents anticipated and enjoyed reading as much as she did.
Barbara said the rosary daily for her lost loved ones and private intentions, always saying a decade for “the soul that nobody is praying for”.
As per Barbara’s wishes there will be no wake or funeral.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Barbara’s favorite charities or a mass said in her memory.
