Carmine Rosa Obituary

Carmine M. Rosa, known affectionately as Buddy, passed away peacefully in Nassau County, New York, on April 14, 2023, at the age of 97. Born on December 14, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, Buddy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived a full and vibrant life. He was the son of Frank and Josephine Rosa (nee Chiusano) of Brooklyn, New York, and brother of deceased siblings, Samuel, Angelina, Rosalie and John.

He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1946. Upon returning home, he married his beloved wife, Josephine B. Rosa (nee Rocco), in 1947, and together they built a life marked by love, laughter, and adventure. Buddy enjoyed a successful career in logistics, working tirelessly to provide for his family until his well-deserved retirement at the age of 76.

Buddy was a man of many talents and interests. His athleticism shone through in his prowess as a swimmer and champion basketball player during his time in the Navy. He continued to stay active throughout his life, enjoying bowling and sharing his love of sports with friends and family. He was also a lover of animals, spending many happy hours enjoying equine-related activities.

He and his wife, Jo (Chic), were a sight to behold on the dance floor, their love and joy for one another evident in every step. Their grace and skill inspired admiration in all who had the pleasure of watching them.

Buddy's generosity knew no bounds. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a kind word, and his courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to those who knew him. As Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." His warmth and kindness will be remembered by all who had the fortune of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine and their two daughters, Lorraine J. Rosa and Frances Rosa-Harris. He also leaves behind son-in-law Barton C. Harris and cherished grandchildren, C. Gregory S. Harris and Dana K. Harris. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his interesting, courageous, and generous spirit.

He had asked that donations be made in his name to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.

May Carmine "Buddy" Rosa rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love, courage, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
