Christel H. Hild was born on July 11, 1933 in Berlin, Germany. The oldest child of Adolf and Hedwig Hug. and sister to Helga and Monika. The family moved to Southern Germany. Christel studied and became a nurse specializing in baby and children care. She came to America in 1956 and worked at South Nassau in the baby nursery. Christel married Paul Hild in 1958.  They had three children, Helmut, Ursula and Doris. They have been married for 63 years. Her joy was her five grandchildren, Jason, Alexander, Timothy, Erika and Dylan. And, three great grandchildren, Elliot, Isabelle and Grayson. Christel and Paul enjoyed to travel, especially to Germany to visit family. Christel was a very active member of St. John - Incarnation church in Lynbrook. She volunteered her services to the sewing group, choir, alter guild, and WELCA. Christel also knitted caps and helped to put together layettes for the Neo natal babies. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years, from Brownies to Cadet. Christel loved cooking for anyone who would come to the house. Baking a cake every Saturday for Sunday dinner and coffee time. She would knit a baby blanket, sweater, booties and outfits for anyone who was having a baby. She loved to play her computer games and on Sundays, Rummy Cube. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
