Doris Knapik

Doris Knapik, a loving and generous woman who brought joy and courage to her family, friends, and community, passed away peacefully in Wallkill, NY on May 17, 2023. Born on October 8, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, Doris lived a full life of 94 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community.
Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Knapik, and is survived by her loving children, Joseph and Rosemary, Maryann and Patrick, Patricia and Michael, and Clair. Doris was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jennifer and Matt, Christine and David, Vincent, Katie, Nicole and Chris, Amber, and Emma.
As a great-grandmother, she cherished her time with Trystan, Bryce, Reigan, Ivy, Alexia, Christian, Lola, and Isla. Doris also acted as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin to a large and loved extended family and a beloved friend to all.
Doris was a dedicated and hardworking woman, working at Simon and Schuster Publishing - Golden Books. She was also an active member of her community, serving as the secretary of the 75th Precinct Community Council and working in the administration of the Police Athletic League Club. Her commitment to the well-being of her community and its youth was unwavering, and she touched the lives of many through her service.
As we remember Doris, we celebrate her life and the love she shared with us all. Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, generosity, and courage will continue to inspire us.
