Francine Rose Kamps (Champion) passed away peacefully on July 12, 2020 with her loving husband and son by her side holding her hands.
Francine was born on December 19, 1948 to parents Elizabeth and Leo Champion, and raised in Queens. After she graduated from Grover Cleveland High School, she worked as a legal secretary in New York City. She gave up her career to move to Long Island to raise and support her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Kamps; her son, Jeffrey (Erin) Migdalen, and three grandchildren, Kate, Avery and Ryan Migdalen. She was also the loving sister of Fred Champion, Eleanor Champion, Leo Champion, Jr., and Betty Marks.
Francine was a loving, beautiful, generous and selfless person who enjoyed life. Everyone who met her, adored her. For years, she opened her home to countless family and friends for holiday hosting, get-togethers and sing-a-longs. She brought laughter and joy to everyone and anyone who knew her and, more importantly, asked for nothing in return.
Above all, Francine loved her family – especially her three grandchildren who called her Grandma. The hours she spent with her grandkids always included games, laughter, cooking, baking and making memories. She will be missed but, unquestionably, never forgotten.
