Obituary

Frieda Lucie Hovagimian Casini
Frieda Lucie Hovagimian Casini, 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at home in Malverne, NY, surrounded by her family. She was born in New York City, on August 2, 1932 to the late George Hovagimian of Armenia and Lucie Dougnac Hovagimian Coadou of France, later of New York City and step daughter of Alexandre Coadou of Brittany, France.
Frieda married the late Dionisio (Dan) Casini on May 24, 1953 and they were married 62 years.
Frieda graduated from Julia Richmond High School for Girls and began a secretarial career with ASCAP. She and Dan settled in Queens, NY and she became a stay-at-home mom for many years before accepting a typist position with the newspaper, the Armenian Reporter. Later, she worked alongside her husband in the family restaurant, Dino Casini’s, finally ending her working career at AMTRAK. She was a long time member of St. Mel’s Roman Catholic Church in Whitestone, NY where she volunteered and
taught catechism for many years.
Frieda was an award winning artist expressing her creativity through her paintings and pottery. A performer at heart, Frieda would spontaneously break into song. She supported and participated in community theater where her silly sense of humor was often noted.
Survivors include her three daughters: Catherine Casini-Steger (Don) of Buchanan, NY, Maria Casini (Claudia) of Malverne, NY and Laura Casini (Therese) of Malverne, NY. Also surviving are three grandchildren Tara McCoy (Matthew) of Blauvelt, NY, Benjamin Steger (Ashlin) of Asheville,
NC, Gianna Casini-Lendino of Malverne, NY, and one great granddaughter, Violet McCoy, as well as her 2 goddaughters JoAnne De'Angelo & Ginette Russell of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dan, one son, David Carl Casini, and her sisters Georgette Abbattiello and Elmas Evans.
Private internment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, NY. In lieu of flowers the family requests modest plants. Please call Jay at Malverne Florist; Malverne, NY.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
