James Francis Lavin, age 59, of Lynbrook, NY died at home on January 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Jimmy was born on September 30, 1961 in the Bronx, NY to Dominic and Marianne Lavin (RIP). He is survived by his wife Nanette, daughter Emma, brother Dom (Kathleen), sister Teresa (Eamonn), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from the Harrington, Kelly McKiernan and Torchia families.
Jimmy was a graduate of Manhattan College, and resided in Lynbrook for the past 20 years. After working in NYC with HIP and EmblemHealth, he became a Director at Northwell Health Care Connect.
Jimmy was a loving husband, a devoted father, son and brother, and was a great friend to so many. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word; it was said that if you had a problem with Jimmy Lavin, you were probably the problem.
Jimmy’s other great love was playing Irish music. He was a well-known and accomplished accordionist, and played with so many great bands and musicians - too many to repeat here. His love of music was only matched by those who saw and heard him play, with that great big smile of joy on his face.
His memory brings much love, peace and laughter to those who knew him.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral mass for family and invited guests only will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Peace in Lynbrook, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.sunrise-walks.org/Jimmy-Lavin/Donate. Sunrise Day Camp is a summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings.
