Kathleen M. O'Connor

O’Connor – Kathleen M., of Lynbrook, NY, passed peacefully on July 26, 2022 at the age of 61. A Dear Grandma of Lucas and Jason. A Loving Mom of Katie DuBose (Christian) and Joey. A Beloved Wife of Joe.

Kathy was born to Mildred and Alfred Waters on September 3, 1960. She was the youngest of her five siblings: her twin Keith, Linda, Jeanne, Susan, and Gary.

Kathy held a strong passion for the rigors and joys of nursing since an early age. She studied nursing at Valley Stream North’s BOCES program and later at Queens College to earn her RN License, a lifelong dream. She enjoyed a longtime career helping those in need as a lead nurse at Long Island’s North Shore hospital in the Open Heart and Intensive Care Units before retiring due to multiple challenges of her disability as a Type 1 Diabetic diagnosed from a young age.

Kathy met the love of her life Joe while working the night shift and calling up the Valley Catering Company in a determined search of a turkey for her fellow nurses on Thanksgiving Eve.

The two enjoyed a wonderful marriage, two beautiful children, two loveable grandboys, and two happy puppies. She absolutely adored her handsome grandchildren and showering them with toys.
