Margaret M. McCollom

Margaret Mary McCollom, age 89, a beloved mother, grandparent, sister, retired registered nurse, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on March 9th 2023. Margaret was born in Jackson Heights, Queens, and attended St. Claire’s School of Nursing in Manhattan. Margaret was a mother of four to Billy, John, Alice, and Jim in Valley Stream New York where she was a shining light to members of the community. Known for her undoubted compassion and care for all people, her sense of empathy, and her patience. Margaret had a natural gift of bringing calmness and peace to those struggling with inner conflict or despair. She lit up a room with her smile and laugh, saying “don’t worry about it, darling” and “just take the day”. Margaret’s impact on her family, friends, and community will last for generations to come. She is a reminder to all of us that life is a gift and should not be wasted on negative emotions and pity. Her legacy as a devout healthcare professional is carried on by her daughter, Alice, and granddaughters Kelly, and Allison, who are registered nurses. She is survived by her brother, Bernard, sons John and Jim, daughter Alice, grandchildren Kelly, Matthew, Christopher, Rourke, Colleen, Jack, Bryan, Allison, and Caroline, and her great-granddaughters Avery and Cora.
