Paul Barker –
Born 8/21/1938
Paul Nathaniel Barker was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He passed away on December 31, 2020 at age 82, following a long battle with Parkinson ’s disease.
He was born to Edgar and Helen Barker on August 21, 1938. He joined the Coast Guard in 1957 and his love of the ocean was evident throughout his life. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Hendel, on March 20, 1960. Their marriage lasted over 60 years. Together they had 2 children: Allen and Linda. He also had 4 grandchildren, Timothy, Andrew, Christopher and Alisa.
Paul became a master electrician, and also worked for TWA airlines. This allowed him to follow dreams of traveling to many places. He especially loved to visit the National Parks and see this beautiful country. After retiring from TWA, Paul became an electrical inspector and teacher of electrical code.
Paul was a Master Mason. He was constantly helping all he could and giving back to the community. Paul was very active in his church. He was a volunteer at the Eureka fire department. He was also a founder of the Trolley Museum of NY in Kingston, NY. Paul loved to spend time on the ocean, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
Viewing hours will be 4-8 PM on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home.
Services at 9:30 AM on Tuesday with burial following at Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, NY
