Paul O’Reilly Hastings,
Born Feb 11, 1941
Passed away in his sleep on the morning of November8, 2021
He was 80-Years-old.
Known to his family as Rye, Paul, Dad and Grandpa, he was a man that would do anything for his family or anyone else in need.
After retiring from New York Police Department, he dedicated years of his life helping others.
First it was through alcoholics Anonymous. He was a friend and sponsor to many over more than 40 years.
Then it was a speaker for the National council on Alcoholism.
Dad spoke in just about every high school on long island teaching kids about the dangers of alcoholism and how alcohol can affect a life in so many ways.
Later in life he became very involved with the Wounded Warrior Project. He dedicated many years helping and fundraising for our wounded soldiers. He became a friend to so many of those men and women. Over the years we have met so many that really admired and looked after dad.
An unfortunate car accident changed his life forever a few years back, but somehow, he never complained and always kept his spirits up.
Reading what people have posted about Dad since his passing truly shows how much he meant to so many. Many that none of us ever knew.
Dad, loved his family, and was generous and loving to us all. He will be missed greatly by all.
