Philip Loughran Obituary

Philip Sheahan Loughran, known affectionately as Phil, a beacon of kindness and warmth, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, succumbing to a stroke at the age of 77. Born on December 26, 1945, in Queens, NY, Phil's life was a testament to the power of love, education, and community.

Phil's journey began in the bustling borough of Queens, where his early life was filled with the vibrancy and diversity that would shape his inclusive worldview. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Queens College, City University of New York, he went on to pursue a Master's degree in Education from Saint John's University, laying the foundation for his lifelong commitment to nurturing young minds.

His passion for education extended beyond the classroom, where he became a beloved figure known for his compassionate guidance and unwavering support for his students. Phil's legacy within the school system is marked by the countless lives he impacted, guiding young individuals to pursue their dreams with confidence and courage.

Phil is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Patricia Loughran (nee O'Connor), who was his partner in every aspect of life’s journey. He was a loving father to his daughter Kristen Aydiner and son-in-law Si Aydiner, and his son Greg Loughran and daughter-in-law Sabera Loughran. His role as a grandfather to Alexandra Aydiner, Zareef Khan, and Ava Loughran filled him with immense joy and pride. The legacy of Phil’s kind spirit, zest for life, and love of family will live on through them.

An ardent lover of the outdoors, Phil found solace in the serene embrace of nature. His passion for traveling took him to many shores, while his love for swimming, beach going, and cycling kept him active and engaged with the world around him. Phil's zest for life was infectious, and his presence at the beach was as constant as the tides.

Phil's character was the epitome of friendliness; his loving nature and kind demeanor were the words that best described him. He approached life with an open heart, welcoming everyone he met into his circle with a warm smile and a gentle word. His ability to connect with others left a profound impact on his community, and his friendships were as enduring as his memory.
