Roger J. Fowler, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, reached the end of his wonderful life on March 23rd, at the age of 92.
Roger was born February 16, 1930, in Tonbridge Wells (Kent) England. He met the love of his life, whom he affectionately called "Duckie" in Toulon, France in 1948. Roger and Odette were married in Toulon in 1953. Shortly after, they boarded the Queen Mary and began their grand adventure to the United States. They lived in San Francisco, Miami, and Montreal, before settling in Long Island, NY.
Roger was fascinated by all things mechanical and was proud to work for Pan Am for 40 years. Roger shared his passion for classic cars with his son, Derek, helping him build a '37 Chevy from the ground up in the early 80's. He also loved Formula One, never missing a Sunday morning race. Every summer Roger and his family would attend the French and the English Formula One Grand Prix. Roger loved his family very much and enjoyed traveling the world with them. His favorite place to vacation was RIO because he loved dancing to their fabulous Latin music. In the 70's Roger and Odette could often be found at Studio 54 in NY, dancing the night away.
Roger was always very active, he was an avid skier and spent many family winter vacations in the French Alps taking in the beautiful scenery and fresh powder. He also spent a lot of time on the water, in his boat "Odette sur Mer." Spending summers in the south of France visiting family was a happy past-time. Many dinner parties at the villa started with a good bottle of French Rose and ended with even more bottles of Mumm's Gordon Rouge champagne.
For the past three decades, Roger could be found on Long Beach, walking the full boardwalk.
Roger is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Odette Fowler; his dearest son Derek Fowler (Patti Fowler;) and loving grand-daughters, Sydney and Miranda Fowler.
The Fowler family will be hosting Memorial services in both NY and Detroit where we will raise a glass of Stella Artois in remembrance of Roger.

Roger saw the children being evacuated from Ukraine on the train and it reminded him of being sent to Belfast, Ireland with other children during the war when London was being bombed. The family welcomes donations to the World Central Kitchen #Chefs For Ukraine, as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
