In Loving Memory
Thomas G. Broesler
October 9, 1951-January 16, 2021
To My Dad
A soft-spoken & deliberate minded man
Incredibly patient, honest & humble
Compassionate & supportive father
Caring & protective son to his parents
An outstanding brother to my uncles and their wives
A proud & caring uncle to his nieces, nephews & godchildren
Loved his cousins like siblings
And was a loyal & trusted coworker & friend to many
Although no longer married to my mom,
he cared for her & we still spent time as a family
My dad was an observer, a good listener
A man with great wit & a dry sense of humor
He was a very hard worker
Known for his avid love of reading,
woodworking, gardening & cooking
He loved to ski, play racquetball & most recently, golf & tennis
A loyal Giants, Yankees and Knicks fan
My dad was my protector, my hero, & my best friend
His gift of strength & confidence will shape my life forever
His memory will always be in my heart & my thoughts
& guide me throughout my life
May his memory be eternal for all who knew him
In Loving Memory,
His Devoted Son, TJ

Obituary
Thomas G. Broesler of Lynbrook, New York passed away at home, surrounded by his family on January 16, 2021, after a heroic 9-month battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma). Tom was born on October 9, 1951 in Queens, New York and raised in Mineola, New York. He was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School in Queens, New York and Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York where he received two bachelor’s degrees. The first was in Personnel Management (1973). Tom worked for about 20 years in management at Powers Chemco in Glen Cove, New York. He worked several years for the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York. Tom obtained his accounting degree in the 1990s) and passed the CPA exam in 2003 after he had moved to Connecticut and then spent a good 20 years working in Connecticut as a CPA for several accounting firms and municipalities. During this time, Tom also formed his own tax practice, which he operated on a part time basis up until his cancer diagnosis in April 2020. First and foremost, Tom believed in the importance of family and was totally devoted to his son, TJ. He drove 520,000+ miles over a span of 15 years in his Jeep Cherokee to attend every event that his son TJ had, big or small.
In January 2019, Tom retired and moved back to Long Island and was living with his son and former wife Aurora. Tom is survived by his son TJ and former wife Aurora Scifo. Tom is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Linda), Robert (Tracy), Gerard (Cheryl), and Patrick (Susan). Tom was blessed with four godchildren, Sean, Glen, Brian and Andrew, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom he treated as siblings. Tom is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Walter Broesler and Patricia Ann Broesler (Koss). Tom was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and colleague.
