Vincent J. Veltre

Vincent Veltre, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on April 4, 2022.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Angelo and Giulia Veltre.  The stories from his childhood with his siblings (Pete, Mike, Joseph, Josie and Philip all who predeceased him) are legendary.  A veteran of the United States Army, he was a patriot that dearly loved the freedoms in this country.

He met the love of his life Helen, married in 1955 and had three children: James, Susan who predeceased him, and Maria.  Known as Vinny or Jim to many (in addition to dad, grandpa and Uncle Jim), he was an electrician at Western Electric (a part of AT&T for many years and then Lucent Technologies) until his retirement in 1994, the same year his wife of almost 40 years passed away.

Vincent loved to spend time cooking for others, enjoyed sporting clay shooting for many years and always loved a good cigar at the end of the day.  He cherished Sunday meals with family where most of the conversation centered on what he or others would be cooking the next day (or holiday). 

His stories and love of life will be missed.

In addition to his children, he leaves behind his granddaughter Amanda, son-in-laws Andy (Susan) and Jon (Maria) and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his grandson Matthew and son-in-law Dave (Maria).
